Centenarian Matriarch Celebrated in Yenagoa as Mama Gladys Agomi Clocks 103

YENAGOA — The city of Yenagoa was aglow with joy and gratitude as family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the 103rd birthday of Mama Gladys Agomi, a revered matriarch whose life story has become a symbol of resilience, service, and generational impact.
High Chief Hon. Selekebina Saboh joined High Chief David Atiye, PhD, and other prominent personalities to honour the centenarian grandmother, describing her as a woman whose legacy transcends age and time. The milestone celebration paid tribute to Mama Gladys’ immense contributions to her family, community, and business pursuits over more than a century of purposeful living.
Speaking at the event, High Chief Saboh praised Mama Gladys as a remarkable woman whose life has touched countless lives through kindness, mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to the moral and educational upliftment of younger generations. He noted that her counsel, values, and discipline have continued to shape not only her immediate family but also many within the wider community.
The former Executive Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Area expressed profound gratitude to God for Mama Gladys’ longevity, strength, and sound mind at 103, describing her life as a rare blessing. According to him, her enduring legacy is clearly evident in the accomplishments and character of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who turned out in large numbers to celebrate the historic occasion.
He further described Mama Gladys Agomi as a living testament to perseverance, generosity, and selfless service to humanity, adding that her story remains a powerful source of inspiration for present and future generations.
