Peaceful Protest: Army batters Ex-agitators as Ndiomu Orders

The Niger-Delta Ex-agitators were manhandled at the early hours of Thursday by the Nigerian Army at the gate of the presidential Amnesty office, Maitama, Nile street, Abuja.

The officers inflicted various degree of wounds on the Ex-agitators that were peaceful in their demonstration on the order of Maj.Gen Barry Tariye Ndiomu.

Recall, Tarakirivoice reported the non-payment of the over six months stipends and Areas of the 7,000 Ex-agitators.

Our correspondent, who was present at the scene of the protest, that witness the peaceful demonstration of the Niger-Delta Ex-agitators at the gate of the Amnesty office.

vehicular movement were not obstructed, they were peaceful, playing drums and singing songs in Ijaw language. when the Nigerian Army and the police were seen cutting long sticks from tree branches and started hitting the Ex-agitators who were peaceful in their demonstration and never retaliate.

Some of the Ex-agitators who speak with our correspondent, Gen. Ibarakumo that was inflicted with various degree of wounds said.

” Ndiomu is a wicked man, over six months he refuse to pay us our stipends for no just reason, we were here to protest peacefully, we did not touch or destroy anything, protest is a right for every citizen of this country, yet he asked the Army to hit us. I don’t blame him, but Ndiomu has just woken the sleeping lion, he will pay for it in due time” he noted.

” The Nigerian Army that he used to do this to us, let them not worry, are they not guiding oil facilities in the Niger-Delta again”

“This will not deter us from claiming back our right. When we were struggling in the creek where was Ndiomu” he added.

Tarakirivoice learnt that, the aggrieved Ex-militants were tamed by the Chairman of phase one of the presidential Amnesty Programme, Chief Egbema 1 who convened a meeting with the leadership of the group.

According to our source, they were told to exercise little patience as Ndiomu is not in town, that he will return back by Tuesday next week to address the issues ones and for all.
