As we await justice for the killing of the late Ahoada Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, reports have emerged that another police officer, ASP Momoh Atodo was killed a day before.
While suspected cultists killed SP Angbashim on September 8, suspected herders killed ASP Atodo on September 7 in Igwuruta Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The late ASP Atodo was the station officer of the Marine Police in Abonnema wharf. His eldest son, Ahmed Atodo, in an interview with newsmen, recounted how his father was killed, “from the account of brother he(father) came home from work about 8pm in the evening and called my younger brother Ernest to go and open the gate and when the gate was opened, immediately my dad was entering, some guys just came out with sticks and weapons to attack him(father) and my dad was like, so he(dad) try to escape from them and the next thing they open fire on him with asphalt rifles and AK-47, while my younger brother was there holding him…. Imagine the trauma”.
He said the hoodlums also kidnapped his mother that night and the family paid N2,500,000 for her release. He said she is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
“We paid a ransom of N2.5million to release my mom and she was beating everyday for the seven days she was adopted. Beating day and night so now she is receiving treatments and will soon be discharged from the hospital,” Atodo added.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, promised to respond later.
