Open Letter to Bayelsans on Nov. 11th Election

By Passman Akpos
I want to congratulate Bayelsans for their steadfastness. In all the thicks and thins, we are still standing.
Bayelsa by the last independence day celebration, is 27 years old, a 27 years old man is really grown, is no longer a baby.
Few days from now, specifically by November 11th we are going to elect the next Governor, that will steer the wheel of the state for the next four years.
Bayelsa is said to be the “glory of all Lands”, the question one will ask, ” is this glory actually a true glory? is the light of Bayelsa really shining? is the land a beem of hope to other lands?.
Bayelsa happen to be the only state that houses the first place that oil was discovered in Nigeria, the state is oil Rich, not only Bayelsa is oil Rich, Agriculturally the land is fertile, virtually all kinds of crops can grow in the Land, Fish wise the land is fruitful, Bayelsa is a good place to do business, a peaceful land.
The biggest part of Bayelsa is surrounded by water, that’s why they could describe Bayelsa as small, but in reality the state is not small.
Our riverine communities needs to be connected through bridges, roads construction. more opportunities need to be created for our people. you can’t be inside a river and soap enters your eyes.
By November 11th we need to be careful on who we give our mandate to steer the wheel of our dear state.
We don’t have any other state that we call our own, we only have Bayelsa the Jerusalem of the IJaw Nation, let guard her jealously.
Let us be our brother’s keeper, don’t go into the election with the intention to maim, destroy, kill just to drive home a point. don’t allow any one to use you against your own brother.
let love lead us, let our interest be collective driven, rather than personal. let our love for Bayelsa and Bayelsans be more, rather than self love. don’t think of how it will profit you, rather think of how it will profit us.
please in the Election, let us vote and not fight. let the November election be the most peaceful and transparent elections ever conducted in the history of elections in Nigeria.
The IJaw man is a peace loving man, a truthful man, let these be our signatures.
You need me, I need you, we all needs ourselves. you can’t Govern a state where there are no humans, please don’t instigate us to kill ourselves.
Bayelsans on November 11th just vote, don’t fight!
Thank you
