The management of Benson Idahosa University, BIU, has announced the death of Prof. Vincent Imagbovomwan Iyawe.
Prof. Iyawe who passed on on Saturday June 8, was the Pioneer Provost of the College of the Institution.
Registrar of the Institution, in a statement, described Iyawe as a “thoroughbred distinguished academic, a dedicated educator and a compassionate leader whose contributions to the field of medical sciences and to the university community were immeasurable. His commitment to excellence and his unwavering dedication to his students and colleagues have left an indelible mark on our institution.
“Throughout his tenure at Benson Idahosa University BIU, Professor Iyawe demonstrated exemplary leadership, fostering an environment of learning, innovation, and collaborations. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide future generations of medical professionals.
“Professor Iyawe was a devout Christian, who dedicated his life to the service of God. Until his demise, he served in the church as a retired Bishop in the Church of God Mission International,” the statement added.
The statement condoled with the family, friends, colleagues and students during this difficult time. It also added that the funeral arrangement, memorial services would be communicated to the public in due course as provided by the family.
