“A Torchbearer for a Troubled Generation: Omokri Hails Seyi Tinubu’s Okanlomo Title”

Former presidential aide and public commentator, Reno Omokri, has congratulated Mr Seyi Tinubu on his installation as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland, describing the chieftaincy title as a fitting recognition of a life marked by service, character, and national impact.
In a statement released on Sunday, Omokri said the title Okanlomo signifies a “unique child” or an “offspring of destiny,” adding that Seyi Tinubu’s personal journey and achievements justify the honour bestowed on him.
He described Tinubu as an Omoluabi atata—a person of exemplary character—who has consistently demonstrated the rare ability to build bridges across people, places, and institutions, a quality he said Nigeria urgently needs.
Omokri noted that Tinubu’s accomplishments span business, philanthropy, and youth engagement, stressing that his charitable interventions across the country have been sustained over decades and were not motivated by political cycles.
“He has shown deep respect for elders despite his noble birth and distinguished pedigree,” Omokri said, aligning with the position of the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Owoade, who reportedly described Seyi Tinubu as a “child of Providence and a bearer of fate.”
Feliciting with Tinubu on behalf of his family, Omokri urged Nigerian youths to emulate his commitment to national service, discipline, and responsible leadership.
He said the emergence of role models like Tinubu is particularly significant at a time when many young Nigerians are grappling with economic and social challenges, describing him as a “torchbearer” capable of guiding others, much like a lighthouse guiding ships through a storm.
According to Omokri, Tinubu’s influence lies in his ability to exude confidence without arrogance, inspiring responsibility among young people, including those from privileged backgrounds.
He concluded with prayers for the emergence of more individuals of similar character and values in Nigeria’s future, expressing optimism that such leadership examples would help shape a more united and responsible nation.
