Ambassador Preye Ekpebide Congratulates Newly Appointed Service Chiefs, Commends President Tinubu’s Visionary Leadership

Abuja, Nigeria — The National Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Phase 3 and Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Delta State on Security Matters, Ambassador General Preye Ekpebide, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed Service Chiefs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Ambassador Ekpebide expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his recent appointments and the retention of Major General EAP Udiandeye as the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI) amidst a major shake-up in the nation’s security architecture.
In a statement released on Friday, Ambassador Ekpebide described President Tinubu as “a father with foresight, dedicated to eradicating every security challenge confronting the Nigerian people.”
He praised the President for what he termed a “timely and proactive decision” to strengthen Nigeria’s defence leadership with vibrant and competent officers, reflecting both merit and national inclusiveness.
> “The changes made by President Tinubu among the Service Chiefs are commendable. They not only display religious balance but also reflect ethnic and geopolitical harmony, showing a deliberate effort to give every part of Nigeria a sense of belonging,” he stated.
The newly appointed Service Chiefs include:
General Olufemi Oluyede, a Christian from Ekiti State, as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS)
Major General Waidi Shaibu, a Muslim from the North-Central, as Chief of Army Staff (COAS)
Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, a Christian from Enugu State, as Chief of Air Staff (CAS)
Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, a Muslim from Kano State, as Chief of Naval Staff (CNS)
Major General EAP Udiandeye, a Christian from Cross River State, retained as Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI)
Ambassador Ekpebide congratulated the new Service Chiefs—particularly his friend, General Olufemi Oluyede, and his “brother,” Major General EAP Udiandeye—urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship in their service to the nation.
He further assured the new military leadership of his commitment to maintaining a cordial working relationship with the Armed Forces to strengthen the fight against insecurity across the country.
> “I commend the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his sagacity and vision. I pray that God grants the new Service Chiefs the wisdom and strength to perform their duties for the progress and peace of our beloved nation,” Ambassador Ekpebide concluded.
