Army Revolution Begins: COAS Launches New Soldiers’ Hub to Transform Troop Morale!

By Paul Ebi

LAGOS — The Nigerian Army has unveiled a modern Soldiers’ Club at Doddan Barracks, Lagos, marking another step in ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare and morale of Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs).

The state-of-the-art facility was commissioned on Thursday, 11 December 2025, by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, during a brief but symbolic ceremony hosted by the 81 Division.

The project was executed by the Commander, 45 Division Engineers, Brigadier General M.O. Momoh, under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa.

In his remarks, Lieutenant General Shaibu said the new Soldiers’ Club underscores the Army’s renewed commitment to providing conducive welfare infrastructures that promote relaxation, camaraderie, and stronger interpersonal bonds among troops. He commended the 81 Division for delivering a facility that aligns with his vision of a motivated, professional, and combat-ready force.

According to the Army Chief, the club—designed primarily for Non-Commissioned Officers—will serve as a vital hub for recreation, informal interaction, and enhanced cohesion within the ranks.

“The welfare of our soldiers remains a top priority under my leadership,” the COAS declared, adding that investments in troop well-being translate directly into improved operational effectiveness and unit cohesion.

The event drew senior officers, soldiers, and invited guests who lauded the initiative as a timely boost to morale within the barracks community.
