Bayelsa Community Cries out as SPDC Connives with Nigerian Army to render it in total blackout

The people of Egbemo-Angalabiri in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has at the early hours of monday, cried out to the federal Government of Nigeria to come to their aide as the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in connivance with the Nigerian Army, the 16 Brigade Commander of Bayelsa State to intimidate the community, in order to render the people in total darkness.
Egbemo-Angalabiri is an oil rich community, one of the highest oil producing community in Bayelsa State, located in the Dodo River axis of the Ekeremor Local Government Area in Bayelsa State.
Speaking to Tarakirivoice, an indigen of Egbemo-Angalabiri, who pleaded anonymous said, “The issues started as SPDC asked the community to off the gas light given to the community by SPDC. An event that will render the community and environ in total darkness.
The community demanded through her youth President, Mr Initimi Podoki, that if SPDC want to off the gas light that they have been enjoying all these years, with the excuse that, they want to embark on a project, then, let them(SPDC) provide for the community an alternative source of light generation, base on this, no matter how long the project will take, the community and environ will not be in a total blackout.
The Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in refusal to adhere to the plight of the people of Egbemo-Agalabiri, lured the youth President of Egbemo-Angalabiri, Mr Initimi Podoki with a bribe with a huge sum of money in order to have their way. But the youth President turned down the advances of SPDC. The company now see the youth President as proving stubborn by not towing to their way.
SPDC invited the Nigerian Army, the 16 Brigade with three gun boats to pick up the youth President.
The youth President as earlier intimated the youth of the community about the development, so they stage in protest on the arrival of the gun boats to pick up the youth President.
When Tarakirivoice contacted the spokes person of SPDC, he was not responding to call at the time of filling in this report.
The people of Egbemo-Angalabiri are now calling on the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, The Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri to come to their aide to avert this looming crises in the community.
