Bayelsa Community faces Environmental Pollution, As SPDC Equipment’s Failure causes oil spillage

Egbemo-Angalabiri in Ekeremor local Government Area of Bayelsa State, On Thursday came under serious environmental damage, as a failed facility of the Shell Petroleum Development company, Causes oil spillage.
The incident, sighted by our correspondent, where a Well head in TUNU Well 4, seen, splashing heavy discharge in large quantities of crude oil into the Atmosphere and the Environment, causing serious Environmental damage.
The oil spill, which is believed to have been caused by equipment failure, has already caused significant harm to the environment and poses a threat to the lives of living organisms such fishes in the surrounding area.
The Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Area, Hon. Onniye Isaac, on Thursday in a statement, expressed displeasure at the incident and urged the owner of the facility, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), to take immediate action to contain the damage.
The Chairman has called on SPDC to take immediate control measures to mitigate the effects of the spill and prevent further damage.
