The Bayelsa State Government has announced a change in the name of the Ministry of Power, which will henceforth be known as the Ministry of Public Utilities.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai, the government explained that the decision was approved by the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, to reflect the expanded responsibilities of the ministry.
According to the statement, the ministry’s portfolio now covers power, water resources, and other public utilities, necessitating the new designation.
Mrs. Obiyai urged members of the public, government agencies, and partners to take note of the change in name and ensure proper reference in all official communications.
The development underscores the Diri administration’s commitment to improving service delivery and strengthening infrastructure management across key utility sectors in the state.
