Days after leaving the People Democratic party, a group in the Ekeremor local Government Area of Bayelsa state, has Inaugurated a platform to support the Governor of Bayelsa state, Sen. Douye Diri.
The group SENATOR DOUYE DIRI PROGRESSIVE FRONT, (SDDPF) was formed according to the founders, to support and propagate the activities and policies of Governor Douye Diri led Assured Prosperity Government.” Our core objective is to be a solid and formidable support base for the Governor in the Ekeremor Local Government Area. This group is not for and against the Bayelsa West Senatorial zoning debate but purely a support group for Governor Douye Diri.” They noted.
According to the statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Okorobia Gideon, that Chief Maku Oloye JP and Barr Debekeme Ogbu are to act as Director-General and Secretary respectively.
Others include;Okorobia Gideon, Director of Media and Publicity; ACP Ondo Gbekumo(RTD), Director of Security; Barr. Tekearede, Director of Legal Services; Tarasele Collins, Director of Youth and Student Affairs; Hon. Germaine Okporu, Spokesman; Airforce Egeniware, Director of Protocol, stressing that, Subsequently, other positions will be announced.
The statement reads “The obvious truth in Bayelsa State is the fact that Governor Douye Diri is deliberately committed to the development of Bayelsa State. This level of commitment to the development of our state has never been experienced since the creation of the state 29 years ago. There are several signature and legacy projects dotting around the three senatorial district. The epileptic power problem in the state will soon be a thing of the past as the state own Gas Turbine will soon be ready to light up the state. It is a trite fact that road and power are the drivers of industrialization in any society. Other sectors such as education, healthcare , security, etc are also witnessing significant improvement. The Governor has equally contributed immensely to peace building in the state. He is a unifying factor in the state. As a result, the Governor deserves the appreciation and support of all Bayelsans to finish strong”

“As a support group, our core mandate is to mobilize support for the Governor, particularly at the grassroots level. Equally, to disseminate development policies and programmes of the government. Membership of this group cut across the length and breadth of Ekeremor LGA with eminent personalities and grassroot mobilizers.”

“Finally, as the Governor announced his resignation from from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, members of the group equally renounce their membership from the PDP and align with the Governor’s decision; and wait for his next line of action.”
