The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa state chapter yesterday kick-started its Constituency campaigns for the re-election of Governor Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo at Ogbokiri, the headquarters of Brass Constituency 3, in Akassa Clan.
The Governor also inaugurated several projects in Sangana where the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere hails from.
The projects include the Sangana jetty, 8 classrooms and offices in Sangana Community Secondary School, a market and several roads.
Governor Diri in his remark stated that he is in Akassa Kingdom not to campaign but to appreciate them as Akassa is PDP and PDP is Akassa.
“Now, we are starting our campaigns for re-election for a second tenure in Bayelsa State and it is a blessing that we are starting with Brass Local Government and starting from Akassa Kingdom.
We know that Akassa is for us, Akassa is PDP and PDP is Akassa. The same thing goes for Twon-Brass, and so, we are not here to come and campaign, we came here to thank you people for giving us your children, beginning with the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and you also have a Commissioner for Mineral Resources, Ebiere Jones and other very top Government functionaries who are with us that are your children. And so, we have no point in coming and campaigning here again. We have come and we have seen our Chiefs, women and the youths.
“And so, on behalf of the campaign team, we want to thank you for also supporting your children, because if you don’t support them, what we have done in Akassa, we may not have been able to do it,” Governor Diri stated.
In the entourage of the Governor was the Deputy Governor of the State, and running mate, Senator Lawrence Ewrhujakpo, Solomon Agwana, the State party Chairman, Rt. Hon. Mitema Obordor, member representing Ogbia Federal Constituency in the House of Representative and Director General (DG) of the campaign council, Sen. Benson Konbowei and Sen. Benson Agadaga representing Bayelsa Central and East Senatorial Districts respectively, PDP State Executive members and other top Government officials.
