Zulum’s SA advocates closer collaboration with Journalists

Mohammed Sheriff, the Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Borno State on Information, has called for a closer working relationship between the Governor’s press team and all journalists in the state.

He made this appeal at the weekend during a familiarization visit to the Press Department of the Government House, following his recent appointment to the state Ministry of Information and Internal Security.

Sheriff emphasized the importance of cooperation and mutual understanding among media practitioners and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media.

He stated that this collaboration would enable him to effectively execute his responsibilities without encountering difficulties.

Moreover, he sought guidance and advice from the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state, assuring them of his commitment to an open-door policy.

He welcomed any constructive criticism and valuable suggestions aimed at promoting and enhancing the image of the Borno State Government.

In response, the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor on Media, Hon. Baba Sheikh Haruna, congratulated Mohammed Sheriff on his well-deserved appointment and subsequent posting to the Ministry of Information.

He assured Sheriff of his support, as well as that of the entire press crew, emphasizing that effective information dissemination is crucial for the success of any administration.

The Chairman of the NUJ Borno State Council, Comrade Dauda Iliya, commended Sheriff for his initiative to familiarize himself with the working journalists in the state.

He urged him to also reach out to media stations operating within the state for more robust partnerships, as the Ministry of Information supervises all media outlets and personnel, who are members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.

The event was also attended by the Secretary of the NUJ Borno State Council, Comrade Chiroma Ali Ibrahim, and the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Union, Comrade Inusa Ndahi, among other union members.
