Abuja, Nigeria – There is growing tension in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) tonight as multiple reports indicate heavy gunfire in several parts of the city.
Eyewitnesses on social media described the situation as “too much gunshot everywhere,” with residents in areas such as Garki, Maitama, and Nyanya reporting sporadic shooting sounds that began late in the evening.
While the cause of the gunfire remains unclear, unconfirmed reports suggest that security operatives may be engaged in an operation targeting suspected criminal elements.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but residents are being advised to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement until the situation stabilizes.
