Legendary Canadian singer, Celine Dion, made a triumphant return to the stage on Friday, performing at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
This marked her first live performance in four years, following a battle with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder.
Dion delivered a powerful and emotional rendition of Edith Piaf’s timeless classic “Hymne à l’amour” (1950) at the iconic Eiffel Tower, bringing the ceremony to a close. Her performance was met with a standing ovation from the crowd.
The 56-year-old singer reportedly charged a fee of $2 million for her performance, which marked her second appearance at the Olympic Games. She previously performed “The Power of the Dream” at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Dion’s return to the stage was a highly anticipated moment, and she did not disappoint. Her powerful vocals and emotional delivery brought the crowd to their feet, and her performance will be remembered as one of the highlights of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
