A young couple has been apprehended in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, for allegedly breaking into a lady’s boutique and carting away clothing items valued at several millions of naira.
According to reports, the incident occurred about a week ago when the suspects — identified as boyfriend and girlfriend — allegedly broke into the boutique in the middle of the night and emptied the store of its designer wears and accessories.
Luck, however, ran out on them when the boutique owner reportedly spotted the couple wearing some of the stolen outfits in public. The shop owner, upon recognizing her merchandise, raised an alarm that drew the attention of onlookers. The situation soon escalated, leading to the couple’s apprehension.
Witnesses said the duo later confessed to the crime during questioning, admitting that they had sold some of the stolen items while keeping others for personal use.
The suspects have since been handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Meanwhile, residents have praised the victim’s vigilance, describing the incident as a warning to others engaging in theft across Yenagoa.
