“Court-Defying Cabal Trying to Hijack PDP — Wike Goes Nuclear at Abuja NEC!”

......Wike Explodes at PDP NEC: “We Won’t Let Defectors Destroy Our Party!”

By Passman Akpos

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday launched a blistering attack on a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing them of recklessly defying court orders and staging what he called an illegal convention.

Speaking at the 104th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at his Abuja residence, Wike vowed that the original PDP stakeholders would never allow defectors to hijack and destroy “a party we built since 1998.”

According to him, the party cannot regain public trust if it tramples on judicial decisions and encourages impunity.

“How Do You Disobey Two Final Judgments and Still Claim Leadership?” — Wike

In a fiery address, Wike said the faction in question ignored two Federal High Court rulings before sneaking to a State High Court to obtain an ex-parte order to hold a convention.

> “You went to a State High Court to sue INEC, asking that the convention must take place, and you got an ex-parte order to override judgments of the Federal High Court,” he charged.

He wondered why the same group rushed back to another court seeking validation after refusing to comply with lawful rulings.

> “You had the convention without obeying the court, and now you are back asking a Federal High Court to recognize you. If INEC already recognizes you, what exactly are you going to court for?”

Wike warned that if party members continue to place personal interests above law and order, the PDP could crumble beyond repair.

> “We must not allow our party to die. Leadership requires commitment and honesty, not propaganda. If we don’t respect our own laws, how do we earn respect from Nigerians?”

BoT to NEC: Install Caretaker Committee as NWC Tenure Ends

Meanwhile, the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) urged the NEC to quickly set up a Caretaker Committee to steer the party, as the current National Working Committee’s tenure expires tomorrow.

BoT Chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, described the move as constitutionally backed and necessary to ensure stability and unity.

He noted that caretakership is already being implemented in places where normal congresses couldn’t hold — including Anambra and parts of the South-East — stressing that such steps are crucial to closing leadership gaps.

The Battle to Save PDP Intensifies

With Wike drawing the line against what he calls judicial rascality and the BoT insisting on structured transition, the PDP faces a pivotal moment.

The message from Sunday’s meeting was unmistakable:

Respect the courts, fix internal contradictions, and rebuild the party — or watch it self-destruction
