DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: CCF pledges support on inflicted 10 years Child

The chairman of Collins Cocodia Foundation, (CCF) High Chief Collins Cocodia, has pledged support on a ten years old girl that was inflicted with severe razor blade cuts by her own mother.

Chairman of Collins Cocodia Foundation, CCF, High Chief Collins Cocodia, disclosed this on Monday, 19th April 2021, as the ten year old girl was visited at Police Hospital Yenagoa.

High Chief Cocodia was accompanied by the National President, Do Foundation/ Deputy Coordinator GRIT, Dise Sheila Ogbise Esq, Mary Accray Bekeowei, of STARRZ Safety Initiative, and Hon. Meg Agidee, Chairman Implementation Committee of Izon Ladies Association, ILA.

Narrating her ordeal, the victim, who is an indigene of Okpokunu near Bomadi Local Government of Delta State, said her mother, known as Priye Richman, returned from Church on Sunday and accused her of stolen her N1,500, but when she denied the accusation, she received some beatings, got tied with a rope, and was giving several cuts all over her body with a razor blade, after which she rubbed pepper and kerosene on the injuries.

The Chairman who was devastated at the  sight of the girl, condemned the violent act she suffered in the hands of her mother, describing it as inhuman and ungodly.

He called for a collective responsibilty from all and sundry in the protection of children from domestic violence, and also proper prosecution of those found culpable of carrying such nefarious act.

Chief Cocodia pledged that his foundation, the Chief  Collins Cocodia Foundation, will take care of the medical bills, and also ensure the girl is taken to a responsible relative, so she can receive proper care, better education, and have a change of environment.

The girl who is currently undergoing treatment at the Police Hospital located behind the ‘A’ Divisional station, was brought in by the members of some  Girl Child advocacy groups, made up of the Do Foundation, Izon Ladies Association (ILA), and Gender Response Initiative Team (GRIT).
