DSS arrests man in Rivers for allegedly calling on military to overthrow government

Oyigbo, Port Harcourt (Rivers State) — The Department of State Services (DSS) says it has arrested a man identified as Innocent Chukwuma after he used his social media account to urge the military to topple the sitting government.
According to the security agency, the suspect — who posts on X under the handle
TheAgroman — published a series of messages in which he called for a coup and asked members of the armed forces to “suspend the Nigerian government.” In one of the posts quoted by investigators, Chukwuma wrote:
> “A coup in Nigeria is needed.Dispose of APC, suspend the Nigerian Government, and join the AES. That is all we need now. It will happen eventually. Nigerians, the military needs your support now! Only them can save this country.The bastard in Aso Rock has basically sold this country to the West, and they run our intelligence apparatus. Only the military can reset this country. Support them.”
A source close to the DSS told reporters the arrest was made in Oyigbo, Rivers State, and that Chukwuma is cooperating with investigators. The agency has not publicly disclosed any formal charges at this time.
Security expert Deji Adesogan, who provided the information to Tarakirivoice, described the matter as serious and said the suspect’s statements prompted swift action by the intelligence service. Authorities have in recent times said they monitor social media for content that may amount to incitement or threats to national security; it was not immediately clear what next steps the DSS would take in this case.
The DSS declined further comment when contacted. The investigation is ongoing.
