Edo State Government’s campaign against cultism gains momentum with Special Task Force action

The Edo State Government intensified efforts to eradicate cultism and other social vices are yielding significant results, as the Edo State Special Task Force on Anti-Cultism recently neutralized and apprehended more suspected cultists.
This development was confirmed by the leadership of Edo State Special Task Force on Anti-Cultism, who disclosed that three suspected cultists were arrested following comprehensive intelligence reports and surveillance conducted in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area.
The suspects will be charged with appropriate offences before the Edo State High Court for prosecution.
In a previous briefing, the Task Force had emphasized unwavering commitment to their mandate.
Over the past few months, the Task Force has led extensive sensitization campaigns and engaged with key stakeholders to discourage individuals from joining cults, while urging those already involved to renounce their memberships.
The taskforce had also resolved to pursue the fight against cultism without fear or favor, stating that no one would be exempted from prosecution, regardless of their political, religious, ethnic, or social standing.
However, the task force also offered opportunities for cult members to renounce their affiliations, and called on parents to be vigilant and protect their children from falling into such destructive practices.
