Gov. Diri, Adeleke, Ijaw elders eulogies Bayelsa first civilian governor, DSP Alamieyeseigha

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, his Osun state counterpart, Governor, Ademola Adeleke, first Military Governor of old Rivers State, King Diete Spiff, other Ijaw elders and Stakeholders, have poured posthumous encomiums on the first civilian governor of Bayelsa State, Late Chief D.S.P Alamieyeseigha.
The different speakers relieved the leadership style and legacies left behind by the man foldly called the people’s leader and Izon nationalist, during the 8th memorial anniversary lecture with the theme”The Ijaw Question and leadership Imperative: Lessons from Alamieseigha’s legacies” held in honour of the fallen hero, at the banquet hall named after him in Yenagoa, the city capital.
Senator Diri, while speaking to the crowd described the late Alamieyeseigha as a leader who was vocal on state, Niger Delta and national issues, recalling that the deceased was a catalyst for unity of the state and Izon nation.
He called for emulation of the ideals Chief Alamieyeseigha stood for. “We should do away with the tendencies that will separate us and embrace unity as Ijaw people.”, Senator Diri further charged.
So, there is a lot we have learnt from this man. Today, some of the things I do, that some people don’t know that I learned from the late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha.
We should look at the things that will bring us together rather than the things separating us. Let us look at how we will build Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation.
His words: “He was indeed an Ijaw Nationalist in all ramifications, and wherever Ijaw interest is found, Alamieyeseigha is there to protect that interest. Alamieyeseigha was a Governor of the people and anyone who had contact with Chief D. S. P Alamieyeseigha will never regret it.

“We should look at the things that will bring us together rather than the things separating us. Let us look at how we will build Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation”, Senator admonished.
In his brief, Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, saluted the courage of late D. S.P Alamieyeseigha for laying a solid foundation for a new Bayelsa.
His words,”I copy some of his style of leadership. He is very compassionate about the people. Alamieseigha was a man who love his people, he laid the foundation for a new Bayelsa”
His memories will remain forever.
Chairman of the elders forum, and former Deputy Governor of the state, Gboribiogha Jonah, said late Alamieseigha was a leader who always stood by his people till death took him, adding that the people of the state greatly missed him.
The guest lecturer, and President Ijaw National Congress, INC, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, while extolling the legacies of the late Governor, called for the unity of the Ijaw Nation to keep the memories of the great leader.
Governor Diri was accompanied by his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, wife of the late Governor, Mrs. Margereth Alamieseigha, alongside other top government functionaries.
