A fuel-laden tanker has exploded in Maitama, a highbrow area of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
Two people said to be inside a commercial vehicle, in the area the explosion happened sustained injuries.
The incident happened on Shehu Shagari way, Maitama, Abuja.
A witness, Saminu Sani, said flames from the vehicle was seen billowing into the sky.
He said many motorists abandoned their vehicles on the ever-busy road and ran for their lives.
He added that the situation led to a gridlock that affected different roads, including the one connecting farmers’ market on LImpopo Street FHA, Maitama, and roads that lead to Nicon Hilton Hotel, MTN as well as Chicken house.
