The Chairman of Funtua Local Government Area in Katsina State, Hon. Abdu Goya, has paid a peace visit to some armed Fulani groups who recently agreed to a peace accord with local communities in the state.
According to a statement by Comrade Bilyaminu Lawal Funtua, today, the visit was aimed at consolidating the renewed peace agreement and strengthening mutual understanding between the Hausa communities and the Fulani groups operating within the area.
Hon. Goya, during the visit, emphasized the importance of dialogue, tolerance, and cooperation in achieving lasting peace and security in Funtua and its surrounding communities. He expressed optimism that the ongoing reconciliation efforts would pave the way for the safe return of abducted victims still in captivity.
“The essence of this visit is to sustain the peace accord and to ensure that the existing understanding between the communities and the Fulani groups is maintained,” Goya said, noting that peace remains the foundation for development and progress.
He also called on both parties to continue engaging in peaceful dialogue and to support the local government’s initiatives toward restoring normalcy and rebuilding trust across communities affected by past conflicts.
The visit marks another step in Katsina State’s grassroots peace-building efforts, as several local government chairmen and community leaders intensify collaboration to end banditry and promote stability in the region.
