“Generals Rush to Maiduguri as Critical Gaps in OPHK Operations Spark Fresh Concerns”

By Paul Ebi

In a renewed drive to strengthen combat readiness and sharpen operational effectiveness in the North East, Commanders of the Combat Service Support (CSS) Corps of the Nigerian Army have embarked on a four-day operational visit to Headquarters Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK). The visit, scheduled from 26 to 29 November 2025, is focused on logistics, equipment maintenance, and medical support across the theatre.

The high-powered delegation includes the Commander Corps of Supply and Transport (CCST), Major General Nansak Shagaya; Corps Commander Ordnance (CCO), Major General Abdullahi Ibrahim; Commander Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (CC EME), Major General Adeyinka Adereti; and Commander Corps of Medical (CC Medical), Brigadier General Innocent Enwuchola.

They were warmly received on Wednesday at the Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, by the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force North East OPHK, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar.

Logistics, Medical Upgrades, and Maintenance Dominate Agenda

Speaking for the team, Major General Shagaya commended troops for their sacrifices in the counter-insurgency war and described OPHK’s briefing as “insightful and highly commendable.” He revealed that the purpose of the visit was to carry out a logistics-focused operational assessment across the theatre to determine its capacity to sustain ongoing and future operations.

Shagaya lauded the successes achieved so far but urged troops to remain resolute and sustain momentum despite challenges.

Other CSS Commanders reinforced this message, praising the Theatre Commander’s leadership in maintaining efficient logistics supply chains, improving maintenance culture, and driving operational effectiveness. They assured that all observations and recommendations from the assessment would be escalated to higher authorities for prompt action.

Medical Corps Announces Upgrade of 7 Division Hospital

Brigadier General Enwuchola commended the gallantry of OPHK troops and disclosed that plans were underway to upgrade the 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital (7 DMSH) to meet modern medical standards. He applauded ongoing efforts to stabilise the security landscape in the region.

Ordnance & EME Commanders Reaffirm Commitment to Operational Support

Major General Ibrahim of the Ordnance Corps underscored the essential role of logistics in warfare, assuring that identified gaps would receive strategic intervention.

Similarly, Major General Adereti praised OPHK’s consistent successes in neutralising terrorists and disrupting their logistics networks. He reiterated that equipment maintenance is a command responsibility, urging field commanders to optimise the deployment of EME personnel to ensure platforms remain fully serviceable.

Theatre Commander: Logistics is the Backbone of Victory

Responding, Major General Abubakar expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed that logistics remains central to operational success in the North East. He expressed confidence that the evaluation would further strengthen OPHK’s war-fighting capabilities, pledging sustained collaboration to enhance combat support elements across the theatre.

Assessment to Cover All OPHK Sectors

The ongoing three-day assessment will extend to Headquarters 7 Division and Sectors 1, 2, and 3 of Operation HADIN KAI, where the commanders are expected to inspect logistics, maintenance, and medical support structures.

Highlights of the visit included detailed operational briefings, exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs.
