Tonto Dikeh has shared details of her spiritual transformation, crediting the Holy Spirit with healing her from deep-seated personal struggles.
The actress took to her Instagram page on Tuesday to reveal a journey of deliverance from what she described as sexual immorality and anger, among other battles.
In the lengthy post, Dikeh framed her decision to embrace celibacy not as an act of suppression, but as a source of immense personal power.
The 40-year-old added that the discipline became a cornerstone for spiritual clarity, allowing her to “hear God more” distinctly and govern her emotions with wisdom.
“God delivered me completely. Celibacy has been one of the most powerful experiences of my life,” she wrote.
“It is not suppression; it is strength. I trained my heart to be disgusted by intimacy without love, because true love is patient and holy. Now I hear God more clearly.
“I feel my emotions deeply but I manage them wisely. I am no longer touched without covenant. I am held by purpose.”
The film star turned politician also disclosed that she was healed from a “rage that once ruled my life,” adding that she used to get angry at the slightest provocation.
“Jesus healed me from a rage that once ruled my life. I used to have a fuse so short it could ignite a storm. I destroyed relationships, opportunities, and peace without a second thought. My anger was not power; it was pain disguised as control,” she wrote.
“But one day, I broke down and cried out like a child. I was tired of being ruled by my emotions. And El-Roi, the God who sees me, saw me. He didn’t condemn me. He covered me with mercy and healed me completely.”
Aside from being an actress, Dikeh has also pursued a political path. After announcing her political ambitions in 2020, she ran for deputy governor of Rivers state under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 elections. Following her loss, she defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2022.
