Bayelsa: Market women protest, tells Diri to order the use of old naira note

Yenagoa- The Mbiama-Yenagoa road came under gridlock on Thursday afternoon as market women of the Akenfa axis protest by the failure of the federal government to Obey the decision of the supreme court ruling on the old naira note.

Recall, The Supreme Court had ordered that the old naira notes should be allowed in circulation along with the new notes until December 31, 2023.

According to the market women, banks are giving old naira note but refuse to accept deposit of the old naira note from customers.

“we have suffered, our family members are dieing of hunger, no food, market is not moving why this government is treating us like this” the women lamented.

“we heard other state are accepting the old naira note but the story is different in Bayelsa state, why?

“We want the state government to give an order to start using the old naira note” They stated.
