I need to seek family’s counsel on my next moves, politics – AIG, Zone 16

The just retired Assistant Inspector General of police, Zone 16, Austin Agbonlahor, has revealed that it is too early to decide whether to join politics immediate after his retirement, but he still has to seek the counsel of his family on his next moves.

The AIG, who stated that his experience through out his service years is a memo that can’t be quickly spoken about, added that it was a great opportunity to have traversed the whole country and beyond.

Speaking on Sunday in an exclusive interview with Tarakiri Voicec in Yenagoa during a celebration to mark his retirement and sixty years birthday, he noted that he was proud to say he conquered.

His words”Let me retire first, I think I have to consult with my family before I take the next decision because this period has been a very tasking one where you are hardly with your family, so I think I have yo judiciously utilise this retirement, If there’s any other thing in the near future then it will require family considerations”

My experience is a memo that can not be said in a brief interview standing, it has been an opportunity to have transverse the whole country and beyond. Is to early to decide, and when u heard that I read a course related to politics does not mean am going to be a practising politician.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, for appointing him as AIG adding that it was based on that appointed, he was posted to open up the zone 16 based in Yenagoa comprising of Bayelsa and Rivers.

He also appreciated all the officers of the two states adding that he was proud to announce  that the zone was among the best newly created zones.

He said “The journey was long, it was fought with risks and challenges but thank God I’m alive to tell the story. A good number of my colleagues are not here today to narrate their experiences.

The Bayelsa State Governor, commended him for his contribution towards the peaceful disposition of the state especially his role in making sure that the state was peaceful during the end SARS protest.

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, stated that during his serving period in the state there was no issue of any unknown and known gunmen.

He said“We commend you for the role you have played in our state. You came shortly not to long, the end SARS happened and for the period that the end SARS lasted, for all others there were issues but our state had no issues.

“Your contributions were very positive. There has been so many issues of unknown gunmen all over the country but non in Bayelsa state and that is because you were seated right here presiding over the affairs. We will not leave without commending the role you have played in ensuring that security in Bayelsa state is upgraded.

Also speaking, the Commissioner of police, River state, Friday Eboka, charged all other officers and men of the police force to see the outgoing AIG as a mentor, who leant his duty diligently and rose from different cadre to where he is today.

He said “You have every reason to celebrate today. I want to let you know that when we started, we were more than two hundred but we are less than fifty remaining. After serving for thirty four years, you still have your two hands complete, your two leds and he is very healthy.
