The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday commenced the nationwide display of the Preliminary Register of Voters at its Local Government Area (LGA) offices across the country.
The exercise is targeted at Nigerians who registered for the first time or updated their voter information during the last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which ended on December 10, 2025.
INEC urged eligible voters to visit the LGA office where they carried out their registration to verify that their personal details have been accurately captured on the preliminary register. According to the commission, the verification process is crucial in ensuring the integrity of the voters register ahead of the production of the final version.
The commission explained that the display period provides registrants with the opportunity to identify and report errors such as incorrect names, dates of birth, or other personal information, allowing for timely corrections before the register is finalized.
INEC also reminded the public that the next phase of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise is scheduled to commence in January 2026, encouraging eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to take advantage of the opportunity.
The electoral body emphasized that public participation in the verification process enhances transparency and strengthens the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral system.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections through an accurate and inclusive voters register.
