IYC, Okoroma youths blocks Agip flow station for not meeting up corporate responsibilities

The Leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone has called on Agip company to meet up her Corporate Social Responsibilities with the Okoroma Clan youths in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The Zonal Leadership of the IYC, who was part of the ongoing protest at Obama flow station condemned the ill treatment of Agip to her host communities, urged the company to heed to the demands of Okoroma people.

A statement titled, “IYC CALLS ON AGIP TO MEET HER CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES IN OKOROMA COMMUNITIES” and signed by the Information officer IYC central zone, Dee Mitin, quoted the President of United Okoroma Youth Association, Comr. Tarinyu Joseph, as saying “Communities in Okoroma clan have been hosting Agip for the past Forty (40) years and our demands are;

Naoc to use Indigenous Contractors

Provision of Scholarship for prospective students.”

The IYC also commended youths, elders and stakeholders of Okoroma for their civility in the ongoing peaceful protest and assured them of her commitment to bringing justice to Okoroma clan.

The statement further quoted the IYC Zonal Chairman, Comr. Clever Inodu as stating that, ”I’m well abreast of these agitations therefore we came in solidarity. We condemn the unfair treatment of Agip oil company to it’s host communities in Okoroma  and urge Agip to meet up her Corporate Social Responsibilities and Memorandum of Understanding as signed by her host communities. We are giving you the warmest assurance that we will not rest till Agip comes in clear terms with the people of  Okoroma.”
