“Kaduna Sets New Education Milestones as Uba Sani Secures Expanded Kuwait Partnership”

By Paul Ebi

Kuwait City — Kaduna State took a major step forward in its international development drive yesterday as Governor Uba Sani met with the Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), Dr. Waleed Al-Bahar, to deepen the state’s partnership and review progress on the landmark Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROOSC) Programme.

During the high-level engagement, Dr. Al-Bahar reaffirmed KFAED’s confidence in Kaduna State, noting that it remains the first Nigerian state to benefit from the Kuwait Fund. He praised Governor Uba Sani’s transparent, reform-driven, and inclusive leadership style, describing it as a model for sustainable development in Africa.

The meeting also explored new proposals presented by Governor Sani for potential support across additional critical sectors, signaling a possible expansion of Kuwait’s investment footprint in Kaduna State.

ROOSC PROJECT: STRONG RESULTS & RECORD-BREAKING IMPACT

The Kuwait Fund commended the remarkable strides the programme has recorded under Governor Uba Sani’s administration. Key achievements highlighted include:

Identification and mapping of 79,275 out-of-school children across 14 LGAs

Enrollment of 13,756 learners — surpassing the Year One target of 10,000

Training of 1,300 teachers and distribution of over 35,000 learning kits

Ongoing rehabilitation of 170 schools and construction of 102 new ones

These milestones place Kaduna among the leading subnational governments in Nigeria implementing large-scale education recovery programmes.

Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that every child in Kaduna State has access to quality education, describing the ROOSC initiative as “a transformative investment in Kaduna’s human capital.”

With discussions now underway for broader cooperation, the Kuwait Fund partnership is poised to deliver even stronger developmental gains for millions of Kaduna residents.
