‘my right hand scar brings bittersweet memories’- Elumelu narrates stress in corporate work

Anthony Onyemaechi Elumelu , founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation has said today on his Facebook handle that, Many years ago, as a new hire at Allstates Trust Bank, he was asked by his boss to work on a credit analysis for a corporate customer. The assignment was due at 8:00 a.m. the next day; there was no option but to deliver. It meant that he had to work on a long, detailed, demanding 40-page document overnight.
According to Elumelu, On his right hand is a scar, he sees it every day and it brings him bittersweet memories.
Narrating, he said, he worked late into the night, so he could finish the job, to go home. he went to Racecourse/TBS bus stop in Lagos, where he got on a “Molue” – Lagos’s classic yellow transit bus. he promptly slept. When he woke, the bus had reached Jibowu, miles away from his home.
Continuing, he said, he got off immediately, but as he jumped, he cut himself badly on his hand. stressing that, he remembered the blood dripped on the ground, as he made his way to the hospital to get treated. According to him, that was not a pleasant memory as a reminder of his early days in the corporate world.
