NEC Committee Inspects Security Training Facilities in Rivers and Enugu — Gov. Dapo Abiodun Commends Tinubu’s Commitment to Security Reform

By Tarakirivoice News

Members of the National Economic Council (NEC) Committee on the Revamp of Police and Other Security Training Institutions have embarked on an inspection tour of key security facilities in Rivers and Enugu States as part of ongoing efforts to modernize Nigeria’s security infrastructure.

The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Committee and Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, included Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, among others. The team visited the Police Training School in Nonwa, Rivers State, and the Police College in Enugu, where they assessed the conditions of the facilities and ongoing renovation works.

Speaking after the inspection, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, MFR, emphasized that the visits underscored President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm commitment to rebuilding and modernizing Nigeria’s security training institutions.

> “We cannot demand professionalism and discipline from our officers without providing them with training environments that uphold integrity, excellence, and respect for human dignity,” Abiodun said.

He commended the President for showing strong political will through the approval of 30,000 new police recruits, assuring that their training would now take place in facilities that meet 21st-century standards.

> “This is not a symbolic effort,” he added. “It is a national mission to restore confidence, morale, and professionalism across our security architecture.”

The committee’s work is part of the broader Renewed Hope Agenda to strengthen Nigeria’s internal security system, improve law enforcement capacity, and enhance the welfare and professionalism of security personnel.

Public Reactions

The inspection visit drew mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media. While some praised the initiative and President Tinubu’s leadership, others criticized Governor Abiodun, accusing him of neglecting infrastructure and youth development in Ogun State.

> “Wetin you do for Ogun? Na to dey waka around. Fix those bad roads and empower youths,” one commenter wrote.

Another user lamented the condition of local roads:

> “Mowe-Ofada to Owode has been abandoned. Please help us fix the road; it’s too narrow. Continue the work the former governor started.”

Some users questioned the governor’s priorities, suggesting he was more visible at national events than in his home state:

> “That’s where you’ll see Ogun State governor — on national assignments — when he no get work to do in his own town. Lagos State governor is too busy modernizing his state for this kind of thing.”

Others, however, defended the governor and praised the federal government’s renewed efforts to strengthen national security.

> “Security issues aren’t bad in Ogun State. Our problems are known even to the blind. Kudos to Mr. President Tinubu.”

A user humorously concluded,

> “Lol… effect of Trump’s. Kudos to Mr President Tinubu.”
