“No Comfort Zones in Uniform: Army Chief Charges Promoted Soldiers to Uphold Core Values”

The Chief of Civil–Military Affairs (Army), Major General Musa Etsu-Ndagi, on Monday, 24 November 2025, decorated newly promoted soldiers of the Army Headquarters Department of Civil–Military Affairs, charging them to view their elevation as a call to higher responsibility and renewed service to the nation.
The brief but colourful ceremony, held at the department’s auditorium in Abuja, drew families, colleagues, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the achievements of the personnel.
In his remarks, Major General Etsu-Ndagi praised the soldiers for their discipline, loyalty, and consistent dedication to duty. He emphasized that promotions in the Nigerian Army remain strictly merit-driven, reflecting character, competence, and commitment.
“Promotion comes with higher expectations,” he said. “The Army leadership looks up to you to justify the confidence reposed in you. Let this elevation inspire you to rededicate yourselves to duty, protect the integrity of the service, and uphold the values that define the Nigerian Army.”
He encouraged the newly elevated personnel to uphold professionalism, maintain humility, strengthen teamwork, and continue to improve their capacity through training, noting that the Army’s operational successes hinge on the quality of its workforce.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Staff Sergeant Charles Adamu expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, NAM, for deeming them deserving of advancement. He assured that the new ranks would translate into greater efficiency and loyalty in the discharge of their duties.
The event concluded with group photographs and congratulatory interactions—an atmosphere that reflected the Army’s commitment to rewarding excellence, boosting morale, and strengthening its operational capabilities.
