Nollywood Star Chacha Eke Breaks Silence on Regina Daniels’ Marital Crisis, Calls for Justice for Sammy West and Protection for Women

By Passman Akpos

Popular Nollywood actress Chacha Eke has publicly expressed deep concern and solidarity with fellow actress Regina Daniels, whose ongoing marital crisis with her billionaire husband and politician, Ned Nwoko, has dominated social media conversations in recent days.

In a heartfelt statement shared across her social media pages, Chacha described herself as being “mentally shaken” by the disturbing reports surrounding Regina’s marriage. The actress, known for her strong advocacy on mental health and domestic violence, reflected on her own life experiences while lending her voice to the growing #FreeSammy and #JusticeForRegina campaigns.

> “These past few days, I’ve been mentally shaken by the ongoing marital crisis of my colleague, Regina Daniels. I’ve read thought-provoking updates, imagined dark scenarios, cringed, and even cried,” Chacha wrote.

“As a woman, I understand the pain of realizing that someone you once planned forever with — someone you share children with — rises like a monster, trying to consume you physically and spiritually.”

Chacha further lamented the alleged arrest of Sammy West, Regina’s brother, who was reportedly detained after defending his sister amid the family’s internal turmoil.

> “Sammy West is Regina’s brother. He did what blood does for blood — he defended his sister. He doesn’t deserve to be locked up. He deserves justice,” she stated, adding hashtags such as #FreeSammy, #EndDomesticViolence, and #ProtectOurWomen.

The post, which has gone viral, sparked a wave of mixed reactions from Nigerians — with many expressing empathy while others advised that the matter be resolved privately rather than through public exchanges online.

A user commented:

> “Tell them to go offline and settle the matter. The ancestral marriage was made offline, not on social media. Social media ranting will not help her because she is dealing with a seasoned politician and businessman. She should get a good legal adviser and handle it privately.”

Another sympathizer countered, saying:

> “Nobody is above mistakes. People should stop mocking them — this can happen to anyone. The brother did nothing wrong by fighting for his sister. He’s the kind of brother every woman needs.”

In a lengthy open letter circulating on social platforms, another supporter advised Regina Daniels to remain strong and resist public pressure or emotional manipulation to return to what she described as “bondage.”

> “Freedom is never cheap, Regina. It comes with pain — and that’s what you’re going through now. Don’t let guilt or pressure push you back into chains. You’re fighting for your peace, your dignity, and your children’s future,” the message read.

While public opinion remains divided, the controversy has reignited discussions about domestic violence, women’s rights, and mental health in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. Many fans have urged the authorities to ensure justice is served fairly, without bias toward social class or political status.

As the saga unfolds, several voices — including those of prominent activists and actors — have called for compassion, empathy, and discretion in addressing sensitive family matters that have now spilled into the public domain.

> “This is not a time to blame or mock,” Chacha concluded in her post. “It’s a time to let our humanity rise and spread healing energy through this darkness. Because freedom is a birthright — and no woman should have to beg for peace.”
