Outrage as Party Agent Caught on Video Bargaining With Voter Inside Voting Cubicle in Anambra

A disturbing video from the ongoing #AnambraDecides election has sparked outrage on social media after a party agent was caught following a voter directly into the voting cubicle, allegedly engaging in vote-buying.
In the viral clip, the agent is seen trailing a voter into the cubicle — a blatant violation of electoral rules meant to ensure secrecy of the ballot. Shockingly, he is clearly heard asking, “Ego ole?” — an Igbo phrase meaning “How much?” — implying a negotiation or exchange of money for votes.
Observers and citizens have condemned the incident as another example of the pervasive problem of vote-trading and electoral malpractice that undermine Nigeria’s democratic process.
Civil society organizations monitoring the election have urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to identify and prosecute the individuals involved, stressing that such acts threaten the integrity of the electoral process.
“This is a clear breach of electoral law and a disgrace to democracy. The perpetrators must be arrested immediately,” one observer group stated on X (formerly Twitter).
The #AnambraElection has so far witnessed reports of voter intimidation, logistical delays, and sporadic cases of vote-buying across parts of the state, despite repeated warnings from INEC and law enforcement agencies.
As investigations continue, Nigerians are calling for transparency and firm action to ensure that the will of the people is not subverted by corrupt electoral practices.
