Police launch manhunt to rescue kidnapped SSG’s mother in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa state Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Mrs Betinah Benson, and has also launched a manhunt to arrest and rescue her.
Tarakirivoice had reported that Betinah Benson, the mother of the Secretary to the state government was abducted in her apartment by men in military camouflage and took her to unknown destination at the old legislative quarters in Yenagoa.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, said that the CP Mike Okoli, has visited the scene of the incident and investigation has begun.
The statement reads, “The Bayelsa State Police Command has launched manhunt for the rescue of Madam Betinah Benson and arrest of the suspects.
“Madam Betinah Benson 80 years was kidnapped on 20th July 2021, at about 2300 hours at her residence at Old Legislative Quarters, Azikoro Road, Yenagoa. The kidnappers who were dressed in military camouflage stormed the residence and kidnapped the victim to an unknown destination.
“The Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Command CP Mike Okoli fsi, and other detectives have visited scene. investigation is in progress.
