Political Earthquake: Efcc Seizes Ngige In Explosive Multi-Billion Parastatal Fraud Probe

Nigeria’s political landscape was rattled on Wednesday as former Labour and Productivity Minister and one-time Anambra State Governor, Dr. Chris Ngige, found himself in the hot seat of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to Peoples Gazette, Ngige was taken into custody at the EFCC’s Abuja zonal command in Wuse, where he is currently undergoing what insiders described as “intense, hour-by-hour interrogation” over suspected multibillion-naira fraudulent transactions allegedly carried out in a parastatal under the Ministry of Labour during his tenure.
A senior source within the commission reportedly revealed:
> “Mr. Ngige is currently being interrogated at our Abuja zonal office. The commission is investigating some transactions running into billions, allegedly executed in one of the parastatals under the Ministry of Labour while Ngige served as minister.”
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, has yet to issue an official statement, leaving the public buzzing with speculation.
A HISTORY OF CONTROVERSY RETURNS TO HAUNT HIM
This latest development has resurrected earlier allegations from Ngige’s time in office.The former minister was previously questioned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged contract irregularities and claims of job racketeering within the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) — another agency under his ministry.
Though Ngige has not been convicted of any wrongdoing, the renewed spotlight has triggered what political analysts describe as “a crescendo of accountability pressure” on the former minister.
