By Peregba Jerry
The 21st Century Youths of Niger- Delta and Agitators with Conscience, 21st CYNDAC, yesterday, urged President Bola Tinubu to heed the voice of wisdom from elder statesmen, and the populace to return the country to true federalism.
Applauding the recent calls by former military president, General Ibrahim Babaginda, former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief Edwin Clark, and former governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, for true federalism, the group in a statement by Izon Ebi, entreated President Tinubu to urgently constitute the necessary structure to implement true federalism.
“We honestly applaud General Ibrahim Babaginda for the courage to speak the truth after 38 years as Head of State.
“The 21st CYNDAC can vividly remember how His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was at the forefront, fighting tirelessly for the return to civilian rule and true federalism.
” What a coincidence that after 38 years, the man, IBB, is advising Tinubu, who was fighting for the same course, and happens to be in- charge of the current administration, to return Nigeria back to true federalism.
“This is not ordinary, but the will of God Almighty that has made it possible, against all odds, for your Excellency to be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
” We, the youths of the Niger Delta region, are tired of the recycling of norms because of our God-given resources that have made the Nigerian nation to be lazy, and fantastically corrupt.
“Failure by this administration to do the right thing, and return this nation to true federalism, after four years, will spell doom for the nation because the youths of Niger Delta will fight with the last drop of their blood to avert transferring poverty, under development, prostitution, cultism, suffering, armed robbery, criminality, and other evils to the next generation.
“No amount of juicy amnesty program will assuage the youths of Niger Delta region. Our common patrimony is being stolen primitively by politicians and highly-placed security agents to fund terrorism, and develop other developed countries like Dubai, while our communities are being wiped away by ocean surges, and degradation because of the exploration of oil.
“Today, all we see and read in the pages of newspapers are government officials and politicians stealing primitively without conscience for their fourth and fifth generations unborn.”
