Renowned broadcaster and public affairs analyst, Rufai Oseni, has called out what he described as the growing hypocrisy among some Nigerians who selectively support criticism depending on their political leanings.
In a recent statement, Oseni noted that many of those who now oppose his views were once his ardent supporters when his criticism was directed at the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
> “I observe that those who are presently unable to tolerate my criticism were previously my devoted fans when I criticized the Buhari government. In fact, a significant number of individuals would contact me to express their encouragement. Now, because I criticize the government they admire, I am viewed as an enemy,” he said.
Oseni emphasized that his role as a journalist and analyst is not to please any political camp but to hold all leaders accountable based on verifiable facts.
> “I maintain my objectivity. When I criticize another government they disapprove of, they will resume their support. My duty is to present verifiable facts at all times,” he added.
The Arise TV morning show co-host has become known for his fearless commentary and insistence on truth and accountability in governance, a stance that has earned him both admiration and criticism across political divides.
Observers say Oseni’s remarks reflect the wider challenge of partisanship and intolerance in Nigeria’s political discourse, where objectivity is often sacrificed for loyalty to political figures.
