Senator Ned Nwoko Refutes Viral Claims Linking Him to Young Woman in Circulating Video

By Passman Akpos

Abuja, Nigeria — Senator Prince Ned Nwoko has firmly dismissed recent online claims linking him to a young woman featured in a viral video, describing the allegations as “false, mischievous, and malicious.”

In a statement released on Saturday, the lawmaker clarified that the woman in question had visited alongside her team as part of the Peace Ambassadors Initiative, led by Ambassador Dr. Adejo Sule. According to Nwoko, the visit was official in nature and bore no personal implications.

> “A video recently brought to my attention shows a young woman who visited with her team under the Peace Ambassadors initiative, led by Ambassador Dr. Adejo Sule, and it is now being circulated online with false claims attempting to affiliate me with her,” he stated.

“It is unfortunate what social media has become—a space where moments are easily twisted for clout and misinformation.”

Senator Nwoko explained that during such official visits, it is customary to take photographs with members of delegations, a gesture often extended to the public during events and outings.

> “Even in public places or outdoor events, people often request to take pictures with me, and I oblige. It is therefore mischievous and malicious for anyone to exploit such gestures to fabricate false narratives,” he added.

The senator stressed that he has no personal or private relationship with the woman and warned individuals or groups against further spreading the “fabricated story.”

> “Let me state clearly and unequivocally that the news being propagated around her visit is entirely false. I do not have any form of personal or private connection with her,” he said.

Nwoko further cautioned that continued dissemination of the false claims could lead to legal consequences under Nigeria’s Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.

> “Any further propagation of this false narrative will attract appropriate legal action. The Cybercrime Act remains in full force and applies to anyone involved in the deliberate spread of falsehood or defamation in cyberspace,” he warned.

The senator urged the public to verify information before sharing online content, emphasizing the dangers of misinformation in the digital age.
