Sir fix a date, we’re in!— reactions as Sowore challenges southeast politicians, Nigerian Citizens for peaceful march to Aso Rock to demand for Kanu’s release promise to lead the protest

The founder of Sahara Reporters, a human right Activist and a former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has challenged the people of the South Eastern Nigeria, Politicians, Traditional ruler and well meaning Nigerians to come out en- masse to protest to Aso Rock to demand for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from detention.
The statement has since garnered over six thousand comments, twenty two thousand “likes” and over two thousand ‘shares’ on the Facebook platform at the time of filing this report.
Many calling on the human rights Activist to fix a date for the protest that is a welcome development ” fix a date sir, we will be there”
One noted, “With this kind of courageous approach by Omoyele Sowore, na to switch allegiance from Mr. Peter Obi to Yele o, because we need this courage to face our colonial masters. Because if a Nigerian president WILL succeed in liberating his people, he must have the courage to go against “the powers that be”.
Recall, Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was arrested due to his activities surrounding the Biafra separatist movement, which the Nigerian government has declared illegal.
Nnamdi Kanu was arrested primarily for: “Treasonable Felony” He was accused of inciting violence and calling for the secession of southeastern Nigeria from the country to form an independent state called Biafra.
” Incitement and Terrorism” The Nigerian government claims he used broadcasts from his platform, Radio Biafra, to incite unrest, attack security forces, and call for civil disobedience”
“Jumping Bail” After his first arrest in 2015 and release on bail in 2017, Kanu fled Nigeria in 2017 during a military operation (Operation Python Dance). He failed to appear in court and was declared wanted”
Nnamdi Kanu was arrested outside Nigeria, abducted in Nairobi, Kenya, under controversial and opaque circumstances, and extraordinarily renditioned to Nigeria (meaning he was taken without formal extradition proceedings).
He was then brought back to Nigeria and re-arraigned in court in Abuja on June 29, 2021.
He remains in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).His trial has faced several delays and legal challenges.He and his legal team have argued that his extradition was illegal and have been pushing for his release.
According to Sowore, in a statement made available to Tarakirivoice today noted,”I will set aside my differences with some politicians for one cause. I challenge every politician or person of good conscience from the Southeast who says they want @mazinnamdikanu released to stop the rhetoric. Time for action is NOW. Let’s march to Aso Rock Villa. Every governor, senator, member of the House, traditional ruler, priest, eze, Igbo person, and every Nigerian who believes in Kanu’s freedom, come out and do more than talk. I will lead this peaceful march to the Aso Rock Villa”
