South Africa, Ethiopia to boost tourism under broader BRICS framework

The South African Ambassador to Ethiopia, Nonceba Losi, said South Africa is keen to strengthen bilateral relations with Ethiopia, with a particular focus on enhancing tourism cooperation within BRICS.
Losi said the South African Embassy in Ethiopia will work to develop concrete proposals and programmes to boost tourism exchange.
In an interview with ENA, a partner of TV BRICS, Losi emphasised the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries in many fields.
She said that with Ethiopia joining BRICS, new opportunities for cooperation in the tourism sector are opening up.
“There is a track of tourism ministers under BRICS, and we would love to ensure these countries work with each other and visit each other.
“The population within BRICS is massive, and we can leverage that for economic development and increased tourist flows,” she said.
Losi also pointed to opportunities for technical cooperation, mentioning experienced South African rangers who could assist Ethiopia in protecting and conserving its nature reserves.
