Comr. Roberts writes open letter to Gov. Diri, alleges unfair representation in Bayelsa Vigilante Service

by Peregba Jerry

The coordinator of Ekeremor local government area in the Bayelsa state Vigilante Service, Comr. Oruge Kuro Robert, has expressed concerns over the lopsided appointments into the administrative offices of the Service in an open letter to the Governor, Sen. Douye Diri.

Comr. Kuro Robert also stated in the letter that he has been suspended as the LGA Coordinator by the Acting Chairman of the Service, Mr. Dobiye Alagba and Secretary, Mr. Innocent Kalaingo, for raising the issue of fair representation on the administrative level, alleging that salaries of LGA Coordinators have been paid in full over a year. He further accused them of highhandedness.

It reads in part, “Your Excellency the miracle Governor, my utmost concern in writing this letter is two pronged, to wit:

“The state offices of the Vigilante as currently constituted is lopsided. The Acting Chairman, Mr. Dobiye Alagba is from Yenagoa LGA in Central

Senatorial District while the Vice Chairman and Secretary are both from

Nembe LGA in East Senatorial District. The three offices of Chairman,Vice Chairman and Secretary which ought to have been appointed from the three Senatorial Districts are presently (from the inception of this administration, the Prosperity Government) being enjoyed by only

the Central and East Senatorial Districts to the exclusion of the West

Senatorial District.

Worst of it, the Acting Chairman, Mr. Dobiye Alagba and Secretary Mr. Innocent Kalaingo had turned into self-styled

maximum rulers who had whimsically suspended me as LGACoordinator because I have raised this issue on several occasions during the meetings of our committee. Aside the fact that they acted ultra vires, their purported act of suspending me is an affront on the Office of the Governor of Bayelsa State who graciously appointed me.

“Four LGAs namely Nembe, Yenagoa, Brass and Kolokumo/Opokuma without Coordinators and this undoubtedly adversely affects

service delivery of the Vigilante Service.

“From inception of the Prosperity Government in February 2020 until date

(15 months), the LGA Coordinators have not been paid their monthly

Salaries specified in their letters of appointment.

“Your Excellency the Miracle Governor, Bayelsans hold this truth that you are a benevolent and visionary leader whose heart is consumed with the zeal of bringing smiles on the faces of the governed; thus your policies are people oriented and it is evident your Government is changing the trajectory and turning a new lease of life for Bayelsans, a distinct propriety and noble gestures which undoubtedly demonstrate the fact that you are indeed a

miracle Governor.

I am therefore of an honest and strong belief that you have not been briefed on the state of affairs in Bayelsa State Vigilante Service especially with regard to

the issues mentioned above which are clearly contra indications of your government and your very person.

Hence, this letter, believing that you will, in

your characteristic manner act swiftly.

He noted that the absent of Coordinators for Nembe, Brass, Yenagoa and Kolokuma/Opukuma local government areas has adversely affected the area, prayed the Governor to look into the issues raised.

“Your Excellency, it is my earnest prayer that:

“The Administrative Committee of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service be reconstituted to ensure a balanced, fair and equitable representation of the three Senatorial Districts an the eight Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State.

“The salaries of the LGA Coordinators be paid with all arrears.

“We Solicit your apt attention Sir.

“Be assured of the highest esteem with which we hold your prestigious office and person.
