Community policing : CP, Yenagoa Communities, Security stakeholders hail CSP Solomon
The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP, Mike Okoli, (fsi), Traditional rulers, indigenes of Azikoro, Akaba, Agbura, Ogbia and Swali communities, leadership of the state chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo, PCRC, United Non natives Association of Bayelsa, other security stakeholders and men of Azikoro division headquarters, has commended former Divisional Police Officer, Azikoro Police station, CSP Solomon Ubani, for outstanding leadership and resourceful policing.
The various groups eulogised him for the outstanding security watch and peace brought to his area of assignment since he rose to the position of heading the division.
For some of his well wishers, who spoke at Thanksgiving and valedictory sent forth party, for CSP Solomon Ubani, at Azikoro Police Station, in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital, it was a painful experience that the seed of hard work that has been planted just started germinating and he will not be around to enjoy his deeds. For some a big shoe has been left behind for whoever that is coming to fit in.
According to the State Commissioner of Police, CP. Mike Okoli (fsi), CSP Solomon, whose reason everyone gathered has worked so hard in his area of jurisdiction and has since been celebrated for outstanding performances during weekly briefings.
CP. Okoli, said his successes in community security has also spurred others to work hard because he has in several occasions showed he knows his onion, no wonder CSP Solomon has outlived ten commissioner of police in the state.
He added that if the former DPO wasn’t hardworking he would have long been transferred and posted somewhere else but for his impact and input in the area he served he was left until this time.
He admonished the incoming DPO, who he described as a man who has a lot of work to do if he wants to march up with the standard that has been established already by the out going, to be steadfast and work tirelessly so that a vacuum will not be created.
He also seek for the same level of cooperation or even more to be given to incoming DPO by the same persons who worked in partnership to achieve all the success, and even do more.
He noted that even with the challenges of only one patrol van used by the division, the out going DPO and his men were always deployed to the scene of crime promptly whenever they were given a distress call.
He further stated that in the spirit of community policing, all stakeholders should assist the new leadership to fight crime in the area.
The Chairman, PCRC, Bayelsa State, Chief, Ogamba Francis, promised that the required cooperation given to the outgoing DPO will surely be given to the incoming, noting that security is everyone’s busy hence their involvement to keep the state safe.
According to the President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Bayelsa State, Mr. Onuma Johnson, commended the DPO for serving the people and serving God honestly. He added that his transfer out of the state is blessing to him having served diligently for the past years in the state.
He prayed that God will continue to bless him, and his labour of love will never be him vein.
CSP Solomon during his valedictory speech, said he felt so extremely honoured to be so celebrated in such magnitude by friends and colleagues in spite of my short comings.
He said for the past four years his journey as the DPO in Azikoro has been successful because of God’s faithfulness.
In his statement, he noted that he was seriously indebted to over ten past commissioners of police who gave him the privilege of serving in the capacity of a divisional police officers of the station and most grateful to AIG Asuquo Amba (rtd), the then CP of the state.
He also expressed his gratitude to the current CP, Mike Okoli, who finally gave him the opportunity to showcase his talent and strength. To his officers and men who worked tirelessly to support and back him to have a smooth administration, he said God will never leave them all unrewarded.
He appreciated the five communities of his primary constituency and all Bayelsans that received him as their own will also be bless. And for the Igbo communities in the state that received him and showed him love in all ramifications, God will meet them at the point of their needs.
For the non indigenes doing business in the state, vigilante groups and the tricycle riders association who he described as his strategic partners who kept vigil when others were asleep to assists in ensuring the society enjoys relative peace and tranquility, God will as well take over their business and make their path straight.
He said “I reported in this division four years ago and within these four years of super active policing career here, I can’t reckon anything that made me feel abandoned by God. His presence was abundantly sufficient in every sphere of my life.
