The minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, has promised to work for the development of the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

Momoh gave the pledge when he received in the audience a delegation from the Auchi Allied Association, who paid him a courtesy visit.

In his statement, the minister underscored his commitment to the development of the region, saying, “We will do our utmost to ensure that we leave the region in a better condition than we found it. While we have faced numerous challenges in the past, we are resolute in changing the course of history.”

Speaking on the pressing issue of erosion that has adversely affected the area, the minister remarked, “I have been briefed on the severe ecological problems in the area. I am aware of emerging issues in Agenebode, Afashio, Igarra road, and other locations. Our government will make its presence known, and you can be assured of my support.”

Earlier, Oshiobuge Ahmed, who led the delegation, outlined the association’s objectives, which include community development, support for the people, and ensuring security.

He conveyed their heartfelt congratulations to the minister and raised concerns about the erosion challenges in their area.

He expressed the community’s eagerness for accelerated development in the Niger Delta, particularly in Etsako.
