DPO’s Death: Rivers Police Arrests Native Doctor Who Prepared Charms For 2Baba And His Gang

Men of the police force arrested one native doctor who is suspected to have prepared the charms for the criminal gang responsible for the death of late DPO of Ahoada East Divisional Police Station, SP Bako Angbashim.
Bako Angbashim, a Superintendent of Police, was killed on September 8, 2023, during a Police operation against members of a notorious cult gang at Odiemude community in Ahoada East local government Area of the state.
The State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, had immediately placed a ₦100million bounty on the leader of the gang, Gift Okpara, popularly known as 2Baba, while the Police officially declared members of the gang wanted.
They had on Tuesday arrested one of the suspects who was about to be lynched to death by an angry mob in Edoaha community in Ahoada East LGA.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP GRACE INRINGE KOKO, said the Men of the Command, hurriedly swung into action by not allowing the angry mob to take laws into their hands.
The statement noted that the suspect was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) for discrete investigation with a view to apprehending the fleeing kingpin and his gang members, alongside recovering their operational weapons.
Speaking earlier to youths, who apprehended him, the suspect whose name was not disclosed, said his boss, 2Baba Gift David Okpala Okpolowu, popularly called 2Baba, had over 40 guns in his custody.
He said his boss had contacted a native doctor from the Ogoni area of the state, who helped them kill the DPO spiritually to enable them to defeat the gallant officer.
He said: “I will not lie, when they killed the DPO, I was not there. I was across the river. I will not lie, I have a conscience. When they brought the DPO, I did not see him. I swear. I don’t know where they buried him. But I know where they brought him from.
“2Baba has over 40 guns since I went there. The person who supplies guns to him, he called the person on the phone, pays the person, and then they will supply the guns. I don’t know him.”
