Tinubu’s Surprise Picks Stir Reactions as Former Lawmakers Take Over Key Government Agencies

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of former House of Representatives spokesperson, Abdulrazak Namdas, as the new Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the Presidency, Namdas takes over from Dakorinama George, who resigned from the position to pursue an elective political office in his home state.
Namdas, who previously represented the Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo Federal Constituency of Adamawa State in the House of Representatives, served as the spokesperson of the Eighth House of Representatives. He also contested in the recent Adamawa governorship primary election and had earlier served as Chief Press Secretary to former Adamawa State Governor Boni Haruna
In a related development, President Tinubu appointed former federal lawmaker Patrick Obahiagbon as the Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.
Obahiagbon replaces Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who stepped down to pursue his political ambition in Edo State.
Widely recognised for his legislative career and eloquent public speaking, Obahiagbon previously served in both the Edo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.
President Tinubu also reappointed Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services, of the NDPHC.
Umeoji, who represented Aguata Federal Constituency in Anambra State at the House of Representatives, returns to the office after resigning earlier to pursue his political ambition.
The Presidency stated that all the appointments take immediate effect, signalling another round of leadership changes across key federal agencies as the administration continues to reposition strategic institutions.
