Troops Neutralize 10 Insurgents, Recover Weapons in Fresh Operation Along Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte Axis

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded another major success in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign in the North East, neutralizing ten insurgents and recovering a cache of weapons and equipment during a precision night operation along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.
According to a statement released by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, the encounter took place late on Saturday, October 25, 2025, when troops of Sector 1 from the 24 Task Force Brigade engaged terrorists attempting to infiltrate Gamboru Ngala from the Flatari axis.
The insurgents reportedly came under heavy and accurate suppressive fire, forcing them to retreat in disarray. In a follow-up ambush along the Dikwa–Marte road, troops intercepted and neutralized several of the fleeing fighters.
“At approximately 23:50 hours, while manning a pre-established ambush position, the troops identified and engaged the hostile elements. The unit delivered heavy and accurate suppressive fire, forcing the insurgents to retreat in disarray,” the statement read.
A dawn exploitation and clearance operation confirmed the neutralization of ten terrorists, with significant arms, ammunition, and equipment recovered from the scene.
Recovered items include five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, three locally-made dane guns, two fabricated pistols, and five AK-47 magazines loaded with 7.62mm special rounds. Troops also discovered a large cache of 7.62x54mm linked ammunition, boxes of cartridges, two motorcycles, two bicycles, and one radio, alongside personal effects such as a water flask, raincoat, blanket, and assorted charms.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their “gallantry, vigilance, and tactical proficiency” during the operation, emphasizing that the success of the ambush underscores the effectiveness of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the region.
The statement added that Operation HADIN KAI remains committed to sustaining offensive actions, protecting civilians, and restoring lasting peace and stability across Nigeria’s North East.
This latest success follows an earlier encounter at the Katarko axis, where troops neutralized more than fifty terrorists and recovered a large quantity of weapons and equipment.
