Trump Says He Was ‘Too Busy’ to Meet Kim Jong Un During South Korea Visit, Hints at Possible Future Meeting

US President Donald Trump on Thursday revealed that he was unable to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during his recent visit to South Korea, citing a packed schedule.
Speaking to reporters before departing Seoul, Trump said he had been “too busy” to arrange a meeting with Kim but did not rule out the possibility of future talks.
> “I would have liked to see him, but we’ve had a very tight schedule this week,” Trump said. “Maybe we’ll get another chance soon. I could come back.”
The remarks come amid renewed speculation about the potential revival of US–North Korea denuclearization talks, which have stalled since the 2019 Hanoi summit ended without an agreement.
While there has been little formal diplomatic engagement between Washington and Pyongyang in recent years, Trump’s comment suggests he remains open to rekindling direct dialogue with Kim — a relationship that once made headlines for its mix of fiery exchanges and historic summits.
Observers say a future meeting could depend on both leaders’ political calculations, as the US approaches another election year and North Korea continues its weapons testing activities despite international sanctions.
